Probationary is the first entry point for a job in bank, especially to fresh graduates and those without prior experience. The PO will report to their immediate senior officer, who will closely monitor and evaluate the performance of him/her for a certain period.

Probationary is the first entry point for a job in bank, especially to fresh graduates and those without prior experience. The PO will report to their immediate senior officer, who will closely monitor and evaluate the performance of him/her for a certain period.

Probationary Officers will have to take up assignments given by their managers. Along with training, they will also be deployed across various departments of the bank to gain exposure in operations & working of bank. So, in short, the PO must be willing to take up any work during the probation period in order to understand the process effectively and to scale heights and reach higher positions.

Probation Period: Normally, the probation period for PO’s will be for 2 years. Probation period can also considered as the learning phase. Hence it is extremely important to be in good conduct, during probation. Banks have the right to terminate the employee during the probation, if he /she does not fit the position.

Eligibility Criteria For Probationary Officers (As per CWE)

(a) Age Limit :Minimum: 20 Years Maximum: 30 Years (With certain relaxations). The maximum age limit specified is applicable to General Category candidates.

(b) Educational Qualifications :A graduation degree, in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government Please note that the eligibility criteria specified is the basic criteria for applying to various Public Sector Banks. However merely applying for CWE/ appearing for the examination does not imply that a candidate will necessarily be eligible for employment in all or any of the 19 Public Sector Banks as each Bank will stipulate its own eligibility/ qualifying criteria. Prospective Candidates should ensure that they fulfill the specified eligibility criteria before applying for the Common Written Examination (CWE).

Exam Pattern:
Maths(50 Questions,50 Marks), English(50 Questions,50 Marks), Reasoning(50 Questions,50 Marks), General Awareness(Banking)(50 Questions,50 Marks) and Computer Knowledge(50 Questions,50 Marks)

The above tests except the Test of English Language will be printed bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi.

Negative Marking: There will be penalty for wrong answer marked in the Objective Test. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidates on fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at correct score.

Batches: Both Weekday (Regular) & Weekend (Saturday and Sunday) batches are available

 

Bank Clerk

 

The Banking Industry is recruiting in a big way. In the next five years, banks will have to recruit almost 7.5 lakh people. The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) will conduct the CWE. The examination is the pre-requisite for selection for the posts of clerks in 19 Public Sector Banks.

CWE would be conducted twice a year to cater the need of the industry and also to the needs of job aspirants. This will prove to be boon for Bank aspirants. This means that asoirants are clear about when they sould apply, and can plan their preparation in an organised and effective manner.

(b) Educational Qualifications :Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. Computer literacy: Operating and working knowledge in computer systems is mandatory i.e. candidates should have Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/Language/ should have studied Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects in the High School/College/Institute. Proficiency in the Official Language of the State/UT (candidates should know how to read/ write and speak the Official Language of the State/UT) for which vacancies a candidate wishes to apply is preferable. Ex-Servicemen who do not possess the above civil examination qualifications should be matriculate Ex-Servicemen who have obtained the Army Special Certificate of Education or corresponding certificate in the Navy or Air Force after having completed not less than 8 years of service in the Armed Forces of the Union.
